Budget Day

by Philip

Today is Budget Day and as always there is a level of uncertainty as to what horrors joys the budget will bring.  This is the case not only for individuals but of course for employers.  Green measures are of course the hot topic of the day and there are rumours that the Chancellor will raise fuel duty again and possibly even cut the mileage rate from 40p to a lower figure in a bid to get us all on our bikes!  If this happens then this could be a real headache for employers as I am sure that not many employees would be volunteering to use their own cars for business use at say 20p a mile from the outset.  The idea is to get us to stop using our cars and use public transport but in reality for many outside the City this is just not an option.  Having just come back from Northern Italy and having seen their transport system it puts ours to shame.  Watch this space for further updates on the budget later today.
