Zero hours contract

Zero hours contracts came into fashion during the recession in the early 90s.

Employers made no commitment to the employee that they would work any hours in any week. The employer called on the employee as and when required to meet operational demands.Zero hours each week was a possibility.

Since the advent of both the working time regulations and the requirement for mutuality of obligations, zero hours contracts are a rare if not extinct beast.
