Changes to the Minimum Wage Legislation - Tips & Gratuities

by Liam

BERR has today launched consultation about changes to the National Minimum Wage legislation.

The changes will have most impact on service industries where tipping is common such as restaurants and pubs. It is proposed to amend the NMW legislation so that tips can never count towards the minimum wage that employees are entitled to receive. At the moment, tips collected by the employer and paid through the payroll can count towards the NMW.

Have your say on the changes here.
