Disability discrimination
by Olivia
Keep a look out for this disability discrimination claim about to be heard at Tribunal….
It concerns Ms Riam Dean, a law student born with her left forearm missing who worked at Savile Row branch of Abercrombie & Fitch. She claims that she was instructed to work in the stockroom rather than front of shop because she was in breach of the Company’s ‘Look Policy’. Abercrombie & Fitch deny any discrimination took place.
We await to hear the full facts. Abercrombie & Fitch will be found to have engaged in disability related discrimination if, for a reason that relates to Ms Dean’s disability, she was treated ‘less favourably’ and they cannot show any justification for the treatment. The critical question here will be one of justification and we look forward to reviewing the justification defence put forward by Abercrombie & Fitch.
