Dismissal by Text after Sexual Harassment Complaint Unfair

A waitress who was sacked by text message after complaining of sexual harassment by her manager has won her case for unfair dismissal, sex discrimination and harassment. She was awarded damages totalling almost £60,000 which included an award of over £5,000 against the manager himself (no longer employed by the restaurant). However, it is worth bearing in mind that an Employer is often held responsible for the acts of its employees as was the case here.
