Headteacher leads the way…

by Nicky

The weather over the past few days has caused a lot of disruption on the roads, and has resulted in hundreds of people being unable to get into work. Schools in particular have been affected, with hundreds throughout our region alone, being closed as teachers are unable to get through the snow.

I was therefore very pleased to read that one headteacher in Wiltshire had planned ahead for the heavy snow, packing a sleeping bag, camping mattress and plenty of food, before he drove to his school on Sunday night. He was aware that he would be unable to make the 25 mile commute the following morning if the snow fell as predicted, and he was keen to ensure that his school was open as usual.

Unfortunately, despite his best efforts the school had to be closed and has remained closed all week. Furthermore, he has been unable to return home either due to the weather conditions and as had to camp out in his office.

I have to say that this is a clear demonstration of dedication. Maybe we should all take a leaf out of his book. What do you think - exemplary or eccentric?
