Investment Company not investing nor managing risk?

by Philip

F and C Investment Company, who manage assets in excess of £100 billion, have been found guilty by an employment tribunal of sexual harassment and bullying of a female lawyer who worked for them.

According to the report, the bullying was so severe that it affected the claimant’s health to such an extent that she is now on prescription drugs, unable to function at the rate prior to the bullying when she was described as a “whirling dervish”, not only doing a high powered job, but also running two businesses (one property related and one training related) and having two children with disabilities to look after.

The schedule of loss amounts to a cool £13 million.

By the sounds of the report F and C had not trained its staff in Dignity at Work issues, thereby failing to avail itself of the reasonably practicable steps defence to a discrimination claim. An investment Company not managing risk, nor investing in its people, can’t be right, can it?

PJH Law, of course, have a product available which helps employers manage and mitigate the risks of bullying and harassment at work. See our elearning page.
