There has been many instances in the recent past where lawyers and law firms have come under the spotlight in Employment Tribunal Claims.
There were the Freshfields Age Discirmination Claims and this firm also became the victim of a merit-less claim. Our Claimant withdraw against the firm as he could not bring any claim under the Race Discrimination Act for victimisation for us following our hard defence of an employer client. Whilst other firms face claims that have merit.
We have advised employees who have been sexually harassed and dismissed without following the statutory dismissal procedure. No surprise I hear you say but what if I told you the Respondent was a law firm -whoops!.
You all know what a litigious lot us lawyers are, well a City Lawyer who featured in the Hot 100 has won an Employment Tribunal sgainst City Fund Manager F & C Asset Management. She quit her £140,000 job following bullying over her working hours and claiming that she was less favourably treated than a male colleague with a special needs child. She is seeking a record £13 million. The Company said it would be appealing so watch this space.
