Medical student sues for £300,000

by Nicky

Virginia Jibowu, a 25 year old black medical student at London’s King’s College medical school, claims that she was discriminated against by her fellow students due to her ethnic origin. She claims that racist comments were made to her and that fellow students shunned her refusing to be near her.

Ms Jibowu is suing the College in excess of £300,000 for loss of earnings (as she was due to commence employment with a Welsh hospital), aggravated damages and injury to feelings. If she fails to pass her course and qualify then she could seek hundreds of thousands of pounds of compensation for loss of career.
