Risk of dementia due to long hours

by Nicky

A report has suggested that middle aged workers working less than 41 hours per week have better memory skills than those working in excess of 55 hours a week.

It has been suggested that those working excessive hours may be susceptible to long term damage to the brain, and long working hours may contribute to dementia. For more details click here.

  5. I know too many folks with “dementia”.

Every one of them worked too hard, commuted too long and all at repetition based, stress jobs and lived in a place that forced this lifestyle afterwork that made regular exercise and normal socialization unavailable in any achievable way.

The only exception is one person who got FTD….they had a strange story all around.

  6. Thank you all for your comments. I think this is an area that most people have touched upon at some point in their lives and can therefore relate to.

I am of course no expert in the medical field, however, I will keep you updated with any further developments in this topic as and when I become aware of them.
