We thought we would join the debate about premium line qizzes on TV. As you know the quizzes veer from the ridiculous Who is the heir to the throne: a) Prince Charles, b) the Fresh Prince of Bel Air, c) Prince Buster. Call 0000000 , calls cost £1.50 per minute to the sublime, an example being on one particular show viewers had to answer the following question to win £30k :The on-screen question, headed Add the pence, listed: Two pounds, 25p, £1.47, 16p, Fifty pence
It was announced, 3 and a half hours into the show, that the answer was 506 and that no one had won. Unless we are missing something we think that the question setters rather than the viewers are guilty of being unable to do the math, but what do we know? As reported here the question defeated the combined intellect of mensa and a Professor of Maths at Oxford University. Eventually one of the people responsible for cracking the enigma code during the second world war came up with an answer but was told by ITV that he was wrong. Any bright sparks reading able to help?
